Lane + Jerry's Gorgeous Wedding Ceremony + Reception

If you're looking for ways to throw a romantic, whimsical, garden-chic wedding, look no further than Lane and Jerry's gorgeous wedding we hosted a couple of weeks ago.

From the garden-inspired cafe lights intermingled with ivory paper lanterns, to the incredible orchid centerpieces, to the soft glow of the fairy lights and candles throughout the venue, the Going wedding truly was dripping with romance.

Weddings come and go and they are all breaktakingly beautiful in their own way. The true beauty of any wedding, though, comes from the love between the bride and groom, and Lane and Jerry's love for each other was undeniable.

Here are a few of our favorite shots from their wedding on October 10. We also want to send a special "thank you" to the vendors that helped make Lane and Jerry's wedding day a beautiful success.

A Romantic Rooftop Wedding

The Dunlap wedding had us absolutely falling in love. The event design from The Wildflower, which included floral arrangements loaded with romantic peonies, whimsical draping, and gold accents, created the perfect garden-chic look any bride would dream of! We especially loved the café lights that draped over our patio. The lights are definitely on trend and looked fabulous! This summer evening couldn't have been more perfect for celebrating the love of two newlyweds.

Dallas Affaires Cake Company outdid themselves with the five-tier wedding cake, and placed on top of a shimmering ivory linen and floral wreath, it couldn't be more beautiful!

The lounge furniture that is included in all of our event packages is always a big hit with our clients! Marissa took the furniture to a new level by adding bright persimmon and patterned magenta pillows to tie in with the reception's look. Guests enjoyed relaxing on the patio while watching the sun set over historic downtown Plano.

Gorgeous centerpieces for the cocktail tables on the patio!

We just absolutely LOVED this wedding and want to congratulate Marissa and Howard Dunlap! We hope you enjoyed your evening at Rooftop Event Spot and have a wonderful life together!

Urban Oil & Gas's Magical Meeting

Urban Oil & Gas's Magical Meeting at Rooftop

Our gorgeous venue is the perfect facility to host a corporate event! We recently had a fun geology-inspired corporate meeting followed by cocktails and dinner on our patio! Our wrap around patio is able to be open for that patio feel or completely enclosed, perfect for those rainy cold days (which we seem to be having a lot of lately!).

The Entry Table

At this meeting they used our beautiful buffet-style table as their entry, and it turned out to be so cute! Urban Oil & Gas hard hats combined with the crystals and simple floral arrangements made for an inspiring place to show information and photos of their company. We loved the table runners, they just made the table pop with color!

Main-Room Meeting

The company utilized our main room to hold the meeting area as well as a space for snacks. A separate, large screen and projector was brought in for the presentation portion of the meeting, and classroom-style tables set the scene for a productive day.

Dinner on the Patio

With the geology-inspired theme, our venue truly sparkled! They had gorgeous floral centerpieces and crystals scattered throughout the space, creating a calming and relaxing environment.

Guests noshed on bites from Urban Crust and even brought in a live musician for entertainment! What better way to spend your evening with coworkers than having a delicious dinner on the patio at Rooftop Event Spot?

Shelby & Josh's Perfect, Rustic-Industrial Wedding

We met Shelby and Josh back in Spring of 2014...over a year before their actual wedding date! We immediately could tell that they were not only crazy about each other, but also super excited to create a wedding day that showed their friends and family their personality and things they enjoy doing together.

Both Shelby and Josh enjoy taking on DIY projects for their home, so it came as no surprise that they wanted an industrial feel that they could create themselves for their big day. When speaking to Shelby's mom at the wedding reception, she even gave us the inside scoop that they love doing DIY projects so much, that the main thing for which they registered for their wedding was gift cards to Home Depot!

Industrial DIY

We've said it before, and we'll say it again: We love our crafty clients! Shelby and Josh outdid themselves when it came to creating the feel for their rustic-industrial event. Every accent was not only gorgeous, but it also was super special because it was made by them.

The accents on our entry cart immediately made the
rustic feel come to life!

Personalized name and advise cards at each place
setting made for a cozy feel!

Handmade table numbers and industrial accents
paired with romantic floral arrangements
provided the perfect balance!

Food & Drink

Another theme that was prevalent throughout Shelby and Josh's wedding was customization. Whether choosing between "The Josh" or "The Shelby" cocktails at the bar, or picking what type of s'mores should be made at the custom S'mores Bar provided by Urban Rio, guests could pick and choose to have it their way.

This DIY bar sign let guests know their options!
Urban Rio's Guacamole Station was a hit!

Shelby and Josh also took advantage of our Premiere Wedding Package, which allowed them to sit back, relax, and enjoy their day, while our team took care of everything else. We handled putting together a timeline to fit all the activities at the wedding and reception, coordinated with each vendor, and took care of doing all of the decorating for the event. This package also includes our Glow Package, which provides ivory paper lanterns for the interior of the space.

Check out some other photos from this amazing wedding!

We could not have asked for a sweeter couple to work with, and wish Shelby and Josh all the happiness in the world!!

Rooftop Uncorked: The EWMC Society's Food & Wine Festival

As many of you know, Rooftop offers exclusive catering at all of our events from both Urban Crust and Urban Rio. Chef Salvatore Gisellu is the Executive Chef/Partner of Urban Crust, as well as the Managing Executive Chef of Urban Rio. What you may not know is that Chef Salvatore has been a member of the Dallas-area Epicurean World Master Chefs Society (EWMC) since 1998.

This international organization of recognized, elite chefs compete all over the world in culinary competitions, own and operate their own restaurants and businesses, and hold events that celebrate their love of great food while giving back to local charities. Of all the exciting things the organization does, the last is what brought them to Rooftop Event Spot.

We had the priviledge to partner with EWMC for their 19th Annual International Food & Wine Festival. This was their second time hosting the event at our venue, and when we decided to partner again for the 2014 event, we could not wait for the day to roll around.

More than 20 World Master Chefs filled our venue with stations that offered tastes of both savory—like gourmet pizza from Chef Salvatore at Urban Crust, empanadas from Chef Fernando at Urban Rio, and sushi from Chef Yutaka at Yutaka Sushi Bistro—and sweet. Guests also enjoyed signature cocktails, beer and wine selections as well as fun, vibrant music from local singer-songwriter, Matt J.

Over two hundred Dallas foodies came and supported the group of chefs, and by the end of the night, the group not only shared their love and passion of delicious food, but raised money for a donation to give back to KidLinks Foundation, a charity that improves the emotional and physical needs of children by directly funding music entertainment and music therapy programs in Texas.

Congratulations to the EWMC team on another successful event, and we look forward to partnering again for next year!

The Natvigs: A Golden Anniversary

The Natvigs: A Golden Anniversary
September 20, 2014

At Rooftop, we are so fortunate to be a part of the beginning of so many couple’s marriages. We get to see the big white dress and first dance, and hear toasts and blessings that are wished upon the happy couple during the one of the most important days of their lives—their wedding day.

We love love, and celebrating the marriage of two people, which is why we were so excited when Curtis and Irma Natvig decided to host their 50th Wedding Anniversary celebration with us. For many of our couples, we are celebrating the beginning, but with the Natvigs, we not only were able to celebrate the beginning, but also all of the moments over the last fifty years that got them to today.

We met with Curtis and Irma to discuss the theme for the event, and the answer so fun! “We want it romantic and simple, and to dance! All of our friends from our dancing class will be there, and we want a really nice, fun event where we can all dance.”

In recent years, Curtis and Irma began taking ballroom dancing classes together and discovered a true love for the art. We helped enlist the services of United Party Rentals to supply the wooden dance floor for their event, and Irma, along with the help of their children, put together beautiful centerpieces with romantic, red roses and candles.

Our favorite part, though, was the various shapes and sizes of ivory and yellow paper lanterns that hung from the ceiling during the event. It allowed for a soft, romantic glow above everyone as they celebrated the Natvigs and their marriage.

During a meeting prior to the event, we asked Curtis and Irma their advice on how to make a marriage last for fifty years. Their answer? Laugh a lot and make sure you love the person, even when you may not like them. That sounds good enough to us!

Congratulations to the Natvigs!
